This book is dedicated by Teresa Gilewska to beginners in fashion modeling, to dressmakers and to sewing and patternmaking enthusiasts who wish to learn how to make their own patterns with new ideas and complete autonomy. The first part describes in a simple and detailed way the basics of taking measurements of the person and the construction of the body of the garment. The second part explains the different ways of transforming the base pattern: knowing how to interpret the model, basic darts, cutting lines and modifications to the template, in order to make a finished pattern of the desired model. The main difficulty is not in mastering these transformation techniques, but in knowing which one to use to construct the pattern of the garment you have in mind. To help achieve this goal, the author explains, through examples of a wide variety of dress and jacket models, how to analyze each project in detail to deduce which transformation technique to use in each specific case.
